Episode 19: Time Management

Weight Loss for Food-Lovers with Molly Zemek

Summary

In this episode of Weight Loss for Food-Lovers, Molly Zemek addresses the skill that many of us lack, and all of us need, time management. While time management is not something we often associate with weight loss, Molly explains how our weight loss can be a result of how are managing, or mismanaging our time. Initially, she points out that how we spend our time should, ideally, line up with our priorities. For example, if weight loss is a priority, then we should be putting time towards planning our meals and making healthy food choices, not sitting in front of the television, mindlessly eating snacks. Molly points out to listeners that taking the time to plan out what you eat will feel tedious, and that’s okay, because it’s part of the process and the work we put in. However, by following Molly’s simple steps, it should feel more manageable. First, you need to plan ahead of time what you will eat. You can plan as early as a week ahead of time, but no later than twenty-four hours ahead of time. After you plan your food, you need to plan your food shopping, so that you have what you need at home when it’s time to prepare your meal. If you’d like to prepare your meals ahead of time, that can be helpful. However, what’s more important is that you keep the meals simple. And finally, be sure to take time at the end of each day to reflect, and record what you ate that day. Molly encourages listeners that patiently practicing this process will result in sustainable weight loss.
